Bar Americain

On an adventure for steaks, my friend Jacqui and I ended up at Bobby Flay’s joint Bar Americian.  We had decided on here, because we were able to get a reservation before 10pm on a Friday night, and there was definitely a reason why.  The food was delicious, but the decor felt like an outdated 80s hotel.  The service was awkward and rude, the women came by the second after she put our food down to check on us before I even had a bite, then gave attitude.  I have never felt so compelled to leave such a low tip.  It’s slightly embarrassing that Bobby Flay would still have his name stamped on this joint.

The food was actually surprisingly good, despite the awful decor and service.  It just needs a serious makeover.

They bring over cornbread to start, which was pretty delicious.

I ended up ordering the Mussels and Frites.  It really hit the spot for what I needed for the night.

The meal was good, especially the fries and the dipping sauce.  I am a big lover of cilantro so the mussels were actually great, especially dipping the bread into the sauces.

Overall, the food was good, but it didn’t seem worth it with the not great waitress and lame decor.  Now I know.  If it’s open at 9 on a Friday, stay far away.
